Fidget Spinner Pillows

My kiddos were watching YouTube when they found a great how-to about making fidget spinner pillows by IDunnGoddess. The pillows are super cute and just like the real spinners, but they spin around your arm. They wanted to make them, and I thought it was a great idea – a great way to get them off the screens and using their creativity!

We went to the fabric store and each picked the color of fleece fabric and felt for their pillows. Then we followed the directions on the video to make our templates, traced them onto the fabric, and cut out the shapes.

On the video, the directions say to use hot glue, but of course as a sewer I’m thinking, “I can sew them instead!” Well… sewing them is not that easy. Mostly because of the inner holes with their fabric tubes to make the pillow dimensional, and then sewing the bearing felt shapes on top of those. But I figured out how to sew it together, and I decided part of it had to be handsewn for the best finishing. The kids couldn’t really help me sew, but they did cheer me on, stuffed the pillows with fiberfill, and even helped me hand sew the bearings.

The results were great and the kids are now sleeping with them every night. Definitely a unique addition to their fidget spinner collection!
