Layered Flower Cards with 2-Sided Dies

I “picked” these new 2-sided rose and dahlia flower dies by Crafters Companion and had some fun crafting these cute cards for late summer. These dies create layered flowers and leaves, and have a nifty trick of cutting on both sides, so all four layers can be cut in my die cutting machine all at once. They have such a cool paint-by-numbers, dimensional look!

I inherited a big stack of Close to My Heart cardstock years ago, and this project was the perfect chance to use all the fabulous colors! I also found the weight of the cardstock worked better in these dies than the stacks I bought from the craft store. I experimented with different combinations of the same color in various shades. And I like how the variations make each set of flowers look more natural.

I used my favorite neutral kraft paper card base to let the colors of the flowers pop. To adhere the flower layers, I ran each through my Xyron machine and carefully lined them up on top of each other. Then I added foam squares under the flowers for even more dimension. I think they look best when they are a little crowded and overlap. For the wording, I love using the hand lettered gold inspirational quote stickers, and I had this great seed packet theme scrapbook paper in my stash that was a great match.

The ideas seem endless for these dies. I would love to craft a big bouquet or a wreath for a special gift.
